What is CCLA?
The California Collaborative for Learning Acceleration is one of three of CCEE’s Learning Acceleration Grants. This grant funded project is aimed to advance a statewide professional learning initiative to mitigate the impact of COVID.
What is the purpose of CCLA?
To build the capacity of administrators, teachers, paraeducators, and instructional coaches with the task of accelerating student learning, CCLA provides an evidence-based professional learning model that supports the implementation of pedagogy and practice, particularly in mathematics, literacy, and language development. Learning Acceleration is “about building bridges rather than filling holes” and provides student access to current grade-level content, rather than returning them to past content.
CCLA Overview & Five Components
California Collaborative for Learning Acceleration (CCLA) is designed to strategically leverage the expertise around learning acceleration across the state in order to provide resources and support that can be accessed by every educator. The design of this work will include an online repository of high-quality professional learning resources for mathematics, literacy, and language development (LD) that integrate universal design for learning (UDL), culturally sustaining pedagogy (CSP) and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
Prioritizing content should be of focus for all students, recognizing that intentional instructional choices will be essential for supporting all students to mastery, and that this is especially true for students with specialized learning needs. The evidence-based strategy we will use to support student mastery of priority standards is tutoring/small group instruction.
CCLA is possible through a partnership with
