CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test)
A basic skills exam is required for all new teachers and substitutes. There are various exams that will satisfy the basic skills exam; such as, CBEST, CSET for Multiple Subject plus Writing Skills, CSU Early Assessment Program, CSU Placement Exam, a CCTC approved basic skills exam from another State, SAT and ACT. CTEL (California Teacher of English Learners)
(Formerly CLAD/BCLAD: Cross-Cultural Language Acquisition and Development / Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language Acquisition Development). The English learner authorization is required for all teachers teaching English language development (ELD) to English language learners (ELL) or English as a second language (ESL) students. -
CSET (California Subject Examinations for Teachers)
CSET will satisfy the subject matter requirements for teachers. CSET: Multiple Subjects and CSET: Single Subject exams administered. -
RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment)
RICA is required for Multiple Subject and Special Education Teachers
