Migrant Education's Regional Advisory Council selected the Regional 2017 migrant parent of the year, the Alumnus of the year, honor student, and the logo of the year on October 12th.
Migrant students submitted their logo drawings and parents selected a parent, an alumnus and an honor student to represent them at the 16th Annual Parent Conference held on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. The winners will also be representing the Migrant Education Program at the 38th Statewide Annual Parent Conference on March 10-12, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA.
The following will be representing the Migrant Education Program at the 38th Statewide Regional Parent Conference:
Parent of the Year: Maria Carbajal from Calexico Unified School District.
Alumnus of the Year: Joe Anaya from Brawley Elementary School District.
Honor Student of the Year: Martyn Lizarraga, a 12th grade migrant student from Central Union High School.
Logo of the Year: Brenda Torres, a 12th grade student from Central Union High School.
