Welcome to Imperial County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), The Imperial County SELPA is made up of a consortium of 17 school districts. The SELPA is an "umbrella" entity for the regionalized provision of special education programs and services for all identified children ages birth through 21 years of age within the Imperial County.

Mission Statement
The Imperial County SELPA is dedicated to the belief that all students can learn and that students with disabilities must be guaranteed equal opportunity to become contributing members of society. To that end, the SELPA facilitates high quality educational programs and services for students with disabilities, and training for parents and educators. The SELPA collaborates with county agencies and school districts to develop and maintain healthy and enriching environments in which students with disabilities and their families can live and succeed.
Imperial County SELPA is proud to partner with the California Autism Professional Training and Information Network, (CAPTAIN ) by promoting the use of evidence- based practices for students with Autism.
CAPTAIN is part of the California Department of Education Statewide System of Support in collaboration with Marin County SELPA

Community Connections
Unified Esports League (UESL) is a program that focuses on improving physical health and wellness, fostering team building and friendship, and exploring the world of gaming and technology for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With a focus on creating a sense of community and providing opportunities for personal growth, U-ESL aims to expand its services to Imperial County with support from the local community.

Best STEP Forward is a nonprofit serving the Imperial Valley area dedicated to providing an inclusive, neurodiverse environment where children with disabilities can learn and thrive. S.T.E.P. stands for Sports, Theatre, Expression, and Perseverance. We host a variety of events throughout the year that incorporates sports and artistic expression.
